Let’s take a look at the main ingredients:
- Chicken breasts
- Olive oil
- Mushrooms
- Heavy cream
- Cream cheese
- Parmesan
Chicken breasts, olive oil, and mushrooms are all natural, nutritious food sources. Use them in a variety of healthy recipes for crowd-pleasing meals.
But what about heavy cream? What about cream cheese and Parmesan cheese? Is dairy healthy?
Here’s what we know. Dairy is full of vitamins, minerals, protein, and natural fat energy. But if everyone consumed dairy all of the time, dairy farming would become abusive and unsustainable…
Let’s be mindful of our dairy intake. Buy dairy that comes from pasture raised cows and try to eat less.
Sugar is what makes food unhealthy.
Traditional chicken marsala recipes are made with all-purpose flour and served over wheat pasta (starchy carbs), which digest very similarly to sugar.
Add ¼ cup of flour and a serving of pasta to this recipe, for a total of 56g of sugar, and you’re looking at heartburn with an energy crash. (And you’ll be scouring the pantry for your next sugar snack within the hour.)
Omit the flour and pasta, and this recipe becomes nourishment. The ingredients provide vitamins, minerals, protein, and quality, whole-food energy.

Crockpot Chicken Marsala Tips
1. Bulk up the meal
Try adding volume to your meal, making it even more filling, by serving your chicken marsala over low-carb noodles.
2. Add a side
Serve your chicken marsala alongside a lemon parmesan salad and low carb dinner rolls to satisfy even the hungriest crowd.
3. Save some for later
Make an extra batch to keep on hand for easy meals throughout the week. Once cooled, leftovers can be transferred to an airtight container and stored in the fridge for up to four days. Or, transfer them to the freezer for up to four months!
When you’re ready to eat, let your chicken marsala thaw in the fridge overnight. Then, reheat it in a skillet over low heat, adding a splash of chicken broth as needed to freshen it back up.
4. Have leftover chicken?
Freeze it for later, or use it to make marry me chicken, air fryer chicken fajitas, or low carb chicken pot pie soup!
