Let’s take a look at the main ingredients:
- Chicken
- Cream cheese
- Pepper jack cheese
- Jalapeños
Chicken and jalapeños are natural, nutritious food sources. Use them to add protein and flavor to a variety of meals.
But what about cream cheese and pepper jack cheese? Is dairy healthy?
Here’s what we know. Dairy is full of vitamins, minerals, protein, and natural fat energy. But if everyone consumed dairy all of the time, dairy farming would become abusive and unsustainable…
Let’s be mindful of our dairy intake. Buy dairy that comes from pasture-raised cows and try to eat less.
Sugar is what makes food unhealthy.
It’s common to dig into a buffalo chicken dip like this with a full bag of tortilla chips. But tortilla chips are made from white flour (which is practically sugar).
In only one serving of chips (and who stops at one serving of tortilla chips), you’re already up to 14g of sugar. Next, you’re looking at heartburn with an energy crash. (And you’ll be scouring the pantry for your next sugar snack within the hour.)
Omit the flour tortilla chips (try this healthy chip alternative), and this recipe becomes nourishment. The ingredients provide vitamins, minerals, protein, and quality, whole-food energy.

Buffalo Chicken Dip Tips
1. Tortilla chip alternatives
These are a great tortilla chip alternative. Also zucchini, celery, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower are all great for dipping. They’re both low in calories and healthy so you can keep on eating until you’re full!
2. Store leftovers
On the off chance you have leftovers, they can be transferred to an airtight container and stored in the fridge for 3-4 days.
3. Have leftover chicken?
Store it for later, or use it to make healthy chicken burrito bowls, spinach and cheese stuffed chicken breasts, or a balsamic chicken skillet.
4. Make it a meal
Bulk up this appetizer by serving it over a baked potato, in a spaghetti squash boat, or over cauliflower rice for a filling, nutritious meal.
5. Make it dairy-free
To make this recipe dairy-free, replace the cream cheese and pepper jack with plant-based varieties. You won’t be able to tell the difference!
